The Best Way to Dry Clothes

Drying clothes can be an absolute pain, especially if the weather outside is inclement. In an ideal world, we would be able to dry our clothes with a combination of wind and sunshine ensuring our clothes are clean, fresh and dry. This is not always possible however and sometimes we must use electric dryers to get the job done. Besides, drying clothes outside is not always the answer if we are in dire need of a fresh shirt or trousers.

In those situations when you are in a hurry and quickly need your clothes to be dry, the electric dryer can be a life saver. A super fast method of drying your clothes involves taking five clean, dry towels and placing them in the dryer along with the item(s) of clothing to be dried. Clean the lint tray before commencing because static electricity can cause the lint to catch on fire!

Take note of the material of the clothes to be dried and put the dryer on the highest setting that is safe for the clothes. Set the timer for 15 minutes and start the machine. The clothes should be bone dry now but if not, add another few minutes to the dryer and go again. It should be noted that the dryer may cause the towels to become dirty so don't use towels you need immediately. Also, this method should only be used in emergency situations because it uses up a lot of energy.

When time is not of the essence and the weather outside is right for it, dry your clothes in the great outdoors. If you are new to the area, make sure you find out the local rules relating to clotheslines. This is because certain areas consider them to be unsightly and liable to bring down property prices. Obviously, if this is the case, you need to join a movement that protests against these regulations which prevent a cheap and natural method of drying clothes.

Purchase and install a high quality piece of clothesline equipment. The last thing you want is some cheap piece of merchandise that causes your clothes to fall to the floor and get dirty. Use nylon rope and tie the ends so that the line is securely hung. Use clothes pegs to hang the clothes and watch as the wind and sun combine to dry them with no additional energy being used. In fact, it is estimated that hanging your clothes on a line saves at least $120 every year in energy bills.
