Eight Reasons Why You Need a New Bra

For whatever reason, many women avoid buying a new bra. It might be the cost these days many people are watching their pennies, and bras can be seen as a luxury purchase. It also might be denial. Many women think their bras still function fine. Never mind the signs of wear or the fact that it just doesn't fit the way it used to. If you happen to fall into either of these categories, take a look at the following list.

1. You've lost or gained weight. Any time you lose or gain ten pounds, you should get properly measured for a new bra. The breasts are mostly made up of fatty tissue, so even just a fluctuation in weight of five pounds can change their size. Along with a new bra, be sure to look into new swimwear, too.

2. You've been wearing a bra that doesn't fit. Puckering and stretching are signs of a bra that doesn't fit. If the back rides up and needs constant adjusting, you're probably wearing the wrong size. This might be disheartening news for some women who find out they're actually a cup size smaller than they thought, but it is important to wear your correct size.

3. The size and elasticity are different when compared to a new bra. This works for all typesespecially sports bras. Take your current bra and compare it to a new one of the exact same type. It should look similar in size and shape. If it appears stretched out, it's time for a new one.

4. The underwire doesn't lie flat against you. The underwire should sit flat, right below your breasts. If the wire is punching through the cloth or you have to keep adjusting it back to its proper position, you need a new one.

5. You wash your bras in the washing machine. Bras should be washed delicately, so usually they are washed by hand rather than machine. If you must use the washer, be sure to put the garment in a lingerie bag.

6. You're pregnant. Over the next nine months, your breasts will grow a considerable amount, and you might need to size up twice. Even if you're an A cup, you'll need underwire support. Consider a maternity bra.

7. A special occasion is coming up. Whether it's a wedding or a formal dance, you'll want a bra that complements the dress you'll be wearing. Consider purchasing a strapless or convertible bra.

8. You haven't bought a new bra in six months. If affordability is an issue, keep in mind that you don't have to buy bras that break the bank. There are many quality ones available for under $30. So next time you're at the coffee shop or the cinema, skip that latte or movie and buy a new bra instead.

Buying new bras doesn't have to be expensive or complicated. Be sure to do your research and shop around for the best prices and styles to suit your personal taste, and measure yourself properly to ensure the best comfort.
