Quick Fixes to Make Your Clothes Last Longer

Although we have no issues when it comes to replacing the majority of our clothes when they have become faded or worn, there are a handful of outfits that we simply cannot bear to let go. Whether it is that awesome leather jacket or that dress which carries so many memories, we all have clothes in our wardrobe that we are desperate to hold on to. The problem is, they have become rather old-looking and don't look like clothes which can be worn in public. Believe it or not, there are a couple of really quick tips that can prolong the life of your favourite clothes.

Bleaching Whites in Clothes

It is entirely possible to whiten predominantly white clothes which have a smattering of other colours by using chlorine bleach. The outfit might be perfectly okay but the red or green trim is fading. By safely using the bleach, you can remove that faded colour and breath new life into your clothes. In fact, bleach can be used to remove stains from just about any whites, making them look almost new.

Clothes: Wrinkle, Wrinkle Little Star

Taking out wrinkled clothes from a dryer is extremely annoying, especially so when the items in question are made from fabrics which are supposed to avoid wrinkles. To overcome this problem, avoid placing too many items of clothes into the machine. Select a low dry temperature and spin speed for best results. Once the machine is finished its cycle, remove the clothes as soon as possible. Clothes that are left in the dryer too long tend to start creasing.

Longer Lasting Leather Clothes

Leather clothes are stylish and durable but even this material can become old and worn if it is not cared for correctly. There are protective leather sprays and lotions on the market. Pick one of these up and spray on your leather clothes as soon as you can. Avoid choosing products which contain wax because these work against the natural oils contained in leather. If you have bags and shoes which have worn areas, a quick rub with a magic marker can work wonders. Bear in mind that most people will not be analysing your clothes with a microscope. As long as the marker matches the colour of the leather, no one will be any the wiser.

Fashion doesn't always have to be expensive. If your clothes have unsightly worn spots or have faded, resist the temptation to throw them out right away. Look for a solution to the problem and you could save a fortune by not having to buy new clothes.
